I think it all depends on the software you use to burn a
DVD. Like PapaJohn, I use Sonic MyDVD version 4.5.
Unfortunately this version does not allow for chapter
creation which is what I think you really want. I have
gotten around that by making smaller movies in MM2 and
just fading to black at the beginning and end of each
clip. When I burn my DVD using Sonic, each time I import a
clip, I get a new button that is essentially a chapter. I
also create my slideshow in MyDVD as well. When burning I
click on "Play all" so that it will play the whole thing
continually or I can use the menu to choose where to start
from.
Newer versions (now at v 6.0) have the chapter creation
built in so I figure it will let you take one big movie
and tell it where to start a new chapter, but at this
point i don't need to spend another $100 just for that
option.
When I put my DVDs into my home player it automatically
plays the movie from beginning. I think I actually have to
stop the movie in order to get to the menu, then I can
choose whatever clip/chapter to start at. On my PC using
Power DVD, the menu pops up first, which is what I wish my
home player did.
