DVD & Video playback

Hi I hope I have posted this in the right group. I have a compaq presaio
running windows xp home edition whenever I try to play music video or dvd
there is a slight hesitation about every two minutes or so. It is as you can
imaging verry anoying have contacted compaq and tried all there suggestions
but to no avail hope someone may be able to help Yours sincerely Reg

What other programs do you have running? Video is very graphics intensive
and if your PC is busy doing other things, this may be the result.

Hi at the time no other programs running that was one of the suggestions from

Check and see if your video decoder is up to working with MP10..
If you use MP10..?

Another thing to check, is the drive using UDMA mode 2 in device manager,
check the properties
for the appropriate IDE primary and secondary channels, advanced tab and see
if the DVD drive/device may have slipped into PIO mode.. I've noticed that
DVD playback is quite choppy in PIO mode..
