DVD subtitles

Is there a DVD player in which I can set the position of DVD subtitles? The
are always placed over the image, and I would like them to be lower

DVD subtitle positions are coded into the subtitles themselves. (This
is to allow non-standard positioning of subtitles, such as overlays of
text in one language over signs in another language, or VH-1-style
"popups".) I'm not aware of any DVD player, freeware or payware, that
allows the user to override this.
