dvd software help!!!!

i have just installed windows vista ultimate but the things is, normally when
i click on any icon on my desktop it should appear in the immediate list once
u click the start menu, however nothing appears there and theres a big gap,
does anyone know which bloody option it is???

also....i am trying to find dvd copy software that removes css, any idea's???
