I'm after a new DVD/RW but not too sure on what format to go for, any advice
on what to avoid? pro's and con's etc of the different formats.

TIA

Garry

The growing acception is to get a dual +/- burner. DVD RAM is an additional
format that holds twice as much data, but not nearly as popular as the +/-.

After you've decided what you can deal with look through the comments of
hundreds of DVD recorder users here

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/

and you should most likely be able to make an educated decision.

I absolutely love my pioneer dvr107d. Does both +R/RW and -R/RW formats.
Was looking at the LG 4081, but LG couldn't even bother to put any
reference to it on their websites. This seems pretty typical for LG,
though: all surface and no substance. LG sucks for support (for all
products), whereas pioneer are very good. So, I went with the pioneer.

nb if you download the latest RP1 firmware, you can rip at 8x rather than
the 2x you're limited to with production bios.
dead easy to do, and well worth it.
oh, and if you want to copy movies, get DVD Shrink - it's free, and
absolutely great.
