DVD RW suddenly failed.

After a reboot, I got the message "Enumerate device Win32_CDROM fail"
out of the blue. It's a Lite-On LH-20A1S, only a few months old.
Device has power. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling, but to no
avail.
Any ideas?

Incidentally, I've tried uninstall/reinstall. The latter tells me I
have a bad driver, code 39. I can't use the CDROM to install the
software that came with it and there don't seem to be drivers on
Lite-On's site.

That fixed it. I don't know why it happened because I've not
installed or removed any DVD software (until I had to remove Nero 9
prior to this fix).

Sandy, couldn't do that before because the drive couldn't be
enumerated. I'll try it now. Thanks.

That seems to have worked, too. My Computer says that now the drive
is a DVD-RAM.
