okay... i have a 911 to get my christmas video for the
grandparents onto a dvd but my pioneer dvd-rw dv-103 is
no longer acting or being recognized as a RW but just a
CD player since i upgraded to XP. i have done all the
driver downloads from sony (i have a vaio) and from
microsoft, HELP me please..... thank you

I have had this problem also and am not sure why this
happens exactly. However, one way around it is you can
use a third party burning program, such as nero, instead
of the built in windows software to make cd and dvds.
That is assuming that device manager is seeing the drive
correctly and it isn't just my computer that is acting
strangely.

XP doesn't natively support DVD burning, that's why installing the latest
versions of Nero or Easy CD Creator resolves the issue.

If a user had such software installed prior to the upgrade to XP and they
have this issue, one of two possibilities. Either the software needed to be
updated for XP or if it is a version compatible with XP with appropriate
updates if necessary, the application may need to be removed and
reinstalled.
