Hi,

About a month ago I installed a DVD +/- RW, for a while I was able to create a
few DVD disk (all containing only data), but now it start to write to the disk
and then it stop working, I tried earlier today and i was able to create a CD-RW
without a itch.

The program that come with the drive is Nero 5.5 and I did an update to it with
the update from the Nero web site, and that was before I first used it.

Could it be that the partition where the "pagefile.sys" is too small, I placed
it on a 800Mb since I have 1Gb of RAM I thought it was sufficent for all normal
use

Martin, i had this problem with a cdrw, a Benq brand. It worked exactly for a week and then bingo everytime i put in a cd it would like start to spin but only reached about half the speed and it died, not able to recognize an inserted disk.
I upgraded the driver/firmware and thats what it was. So check for new updated drivers for your bran
I have a gig of ram also and my swap is 3072mb for min and max
hope this helps... rob

That's a good idea, but I can't find any support for any DVD writer on the ACER
web site, and it's reported by the BIOS to be a Pionneer, but the utilies and
firmware upgrade from Pionneer doesn't recognize the drive, they all tell me
that there is on DVD +/- RW on my system

What can I do to fix this

BTW. the ACER web site doesn't even have a E-Mail adress to send for support of
optical drives
