DVD-/+RW not recording

Hi,

I bought a DVR-106, and I was able to create a few DVD-RW, but now the drive
stop writing before it gets to 50%, and unless I reboot the computer I can no
longer use the drive even if I click the stop button in the program (Nero 5.5)

What could be wrong with the whole thing, is the drive defect or something in
the system is a wrong ?

Hi,

It was working before at the same speed that it is now, but I will try it, on
the matter of the task manager, the only thing I can do is to close the
"Writing" window, but I can not shut the "nero.exe" program, and if I try to
restart the program again all it does is add another "nero.exe" to the listing
and slowing down the system.

When the write fail I can not even shut the computer, as the session just hang,
and the only way to recover from that situation is to press "Reset"

I tried to lower the speed but the problem remains, it will write part of the
data that it has to write (usally less than 10%), and then the drive just stop,
i.e.: the light on the front of the drive does light-up anymore. it even somehow
temporally disble the screensaver and the screen shutdown, and clicking the
"STOP" button in the program doesn't help, the program still running until I
reset the system.

I'm using the NERO 5.5 that came with the drive
