Hello,

I have bought a new "DVD+RW/CDRW Internal Combro Drive GX620 SX280 X300 M65"
through eBay (eBay item number #220128391831) for my Dell OptiPlex 745 Ultra
Small Form Factor *Vista System.

After I to receive this I only plug drive in the desktop and Windows Vista
installed automatically a software. The problem is I simply do NOT get to
have access to the driver and I do not get to see this in my micro. I already
placed some CD's and DVD´s but nothing happened.

Please, tell me what I must doing?

Thanks,

Jnorge,

Check whether Device Manager shows a problem with the drive or whether it
shows that the drive is working properly. If Device Manager indicates that
the drive is working, try using Windows built-in burning capability, just as
a test to see what happens.

Here is how you do that. Use Windows Explorer (Start > All Programs >
Accessories). In Windows Explorer, copy a file, like in Documents, by right
clicking it and selecting Copy. Now right click the burner drive and select
Paste. The file should appear in the right pane opposite the burner drive.
Right click the file and select Properties. Note where the file is located.
Windows stashes files until you're ready to burn all of them. Now, right
click the burner drive and select Burn to Disk (words to that effect). If
everything is working, the file should be burned to disk. Now right click
the file, (in the right pane) and note its location. It should be on the
disk. If it is, then the drive burn function is working. Just something to
try.

In addition, check the CD/DVD area in Control Panel to select those options
you need to obtain the behavior you expect when you insert a disk into the
drive. Sometimes you have to uncheck Auto Play to get the results you are
looking for. For more detailed information on how to manage these functions,
look in the Windows Help and Support feature under Start. Launch the feature
and search on burn CD, or burn DVD, or on anything you want to know. These
functions are a little tricky until you get used to using them.

Hi Freddy,

Thank you so much for your help. In fact I am in my office now with a big
problem since that I need to have access for some file that they are in CD
but mine DVD+RW/CDRW Internal Combro Drive not work.

Well, I do not understand about computer very, but I see that your
instructions below are easy to follow. Anyway, I have read "Now right click
the burner drive and select Paste...". Sorry, but I think that I do not have
"Burner Drive" since this do not show in my system. Sorry, but could you
continue helping me until solving this? How I make to have access to "burner
drive"?

Thanks,
Jnorge

Freddy,

I was for "Device Manager" in agree to your instructions. There I saw in
"Disk Drive" only "WDC WD800JD-75MSA3 ATA Device". Well, I think that it is
not the DVD Drive, right? In the reality I think that DVD/Drive does not
shown because this "maybe" is not installed. In agree with my first message
the Windows VISTA installed automatically a software when I placed for the
first time the DVD+RW Drive in desktop. This means that the Drive was
installed correctly?

Jnorge,

First, you must look in Device Manager to confirm that the CD/DVD-ROM drive
is working. Right click Computer (formerly My Computer) and select
Properties. In the upper left corner, select Device Manager. In Device
Manager, notice whether DVD/CD-ROM Drives shows a problem, like a red X, or
some other indication of a problem. Unfold DVD/CD-ROM Drives and right click
the drive and then select Properties. In the window that opens, you should
see the words This device is working properly. If you see some indication of
a problem, then you must resolve the problem before you can continue.

If Device Manager has no problem with the drive, then you should open
Windows Explorer, as explained earlier. In Windows Explorer find your burner
drive. It will be shown as DVD/CD-RW Drive (D) (that's your burner drive),
or something similar to that. Now follow my previous instructions. Report
back.

Jnorge,

In Device Manager, the Disk drives you say that you see is your hard drive,
not your CD/DVD-ROM Drive. If you see no DVD/CD-ROM drives, then it is not
installed.

Now you must review the installation to confirm that you installed the drive
properly. You must check that you connected the cables exactly as the
installation instructions specified. If this is an IDE drive, then the blue
end of the cable is connected to the motherboard. The jumper must be set
properly, either as Master, Slave, or Cable Select, depending on how you have
it installed. The power cable must also be connected. You may need to have
a friend help you. I can only give you a general idea on how to do it. When
you have it installed properly, Device Manager will show it as working
properly. Check back.

Okay Freddy, like you I really think the CD/DVD-ROM Drive not to be installed
and I will request help friend to decide this. Thank you so much for your
help. You really makes of this community a great place for customers to
decide any problem here.
