I have been making mm2 movies and practicing with file
types in order to be able to fit a 2 hour movie on to a
dvd . so instead of wasting dvd's i bought a dvd-rw but
now I have nothing to erase it. I have nero express that
came with my computer but it will only erase cd-rw any
solutions .

Your question has raised one of my own. I haven't feen able to burn a WMM file to a DVD....only CD, which of course I can't play back on a DVD player. You've done that? I get messages saying the DVD burner wont support WMM file types.

You have to use other software such as DVD software to convert the files to
MPEG2 and then to prepare and burn the DVD. See the DVD Software section of

What about the software that came with your DVD burner?

Also, why "practice" by actually burning a DVD? If you wanted to make sure
that the video would fit on the DVD, you just need to look at the video file
size and make sure it is under 4.7 GB.

Since the file will be re-encoded by the third party DVD burning software,
the pre-encoded size does not really have any relevance to the final result.
Length of video by time is a much better estimation!

If the encoded DVD result is put on the hard drive, rather than the actual
DVD (for testing purposes), you just need to look at the file size to know
if that will fit on a DVD.

Length of video is probably the worst estimation technique since the
encoding algorithms can vary so much!
