I Upgraded my computer from Windows 98se to Windows XP
Home. With Windows 98se, My samsung SD-608 DVDROM drive
worked and now with XP, the drive is detected but only
one or two CDs will work in it. I've tried reverting
back to 98 and it worked in 98. I rather use XP and
would like to know if there is anyone out there that has
heard of this problem and a fix for it.
My computer is an E-machines 533ID2 with 256 MB of RAM,
and running windows XP. I have PowerDVD XP for my
Decoding software and that works for maybe one or two of
my DVDs. I've contacted both Samsung and E-machines and
they both told me to contact the other so any help would
be appreciated.

can you post more detailed information of your problem?

How did you upgrade to Windows XP?
What kind of software(Including Utilitis) do you have on your System?
You can play CD or DVD only twice when you boot PC, is this right?
or you can play CD but DVD has problem.
When you can not play CD or DVD what kind of status do you have on your PC?
just drive seek cd forever?
do you have any erro message?
if you ahve error where came from and what exactly they say?
When you stat having problem with drive,
can you access drive from my computer?
or you can not access drive(disk) anyway?

If you have problem with PowerDVD,
Did you apply Patch from Cyberlink?
