Hi
When I place a cd into my DVD-rom drive or my DVD rw drive it takes about
2-3 mins for autoplay to kick in...media player says there isn't a disc
there and also windows explorer doesn't recognize the disc as being there
neither...basically my pc hangs for a minute or two!
Using win XP pro
Intel celeron 1200
384mb ram
windows media player 9
Thanks kim

.
In that the Celeron, just like AMD's Duron, doesn't have
any cache RAM it has to invoke the CD-ROM at activation
point and not when the BIOS activates, thus the delay.
A pentium4 would activate the CD-ROM immediately for it
has 512mb of cache ram. Increasing RAM will not make any
difference, only upgrading to a Pentium4 or AMD Athlon
would.
