I put a dics into my DVD drive today and clicked on the drive icon in My
Computer but all that came up was a message to "Please Insert a Disc into
drive" message. I tried using a DVD cleaner disc because I thought the lens
might be dirty but nothing happened. Up until today the drive has worked
fine. The drive is an ASUS one but I can't remember the exact model.

If anyone has any ideas I would begrateful to hear from you.

Cheers.

Have you tried restarting your computer? I've seen cases where systems
"forget" that an optical drive is there. Certainly won't cost anything
to try anyway...

Yeah, I tried that but no luck. I checked all the connections as well. I
think it has just died!

Cheers.

Check to make sure that the drive shows up properly in the hardware
properties. Clean the laser lens, and also check that all the connections to
the drive are okay. Sometimes the computer may require to be re-started if
it cannot access the drive. It is also possible that the drive is starting
to fail.
