I've had a problem with my DVD-ROM drive for the past few
months. It plays CDs and VCDs fine, without any problem.
However, when I put in a DVD, it seems to not even read
it. If I'm in Windows Media Player, and try to play it,
nothing happens, and WMP freezes up. Other programs tell
me the drive is in use, even though it's clearly not, and
it's just sitting there. I can't perform a system restore
back far enough to when the problem first started
happening. There's nothing wrong with my region encoding,
and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DVD-ROM
drivers. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas. Does anyone
have any idea on what might be the problem?
