I just installed a Hitachi DVD-ROM GD 7500 on Win XP. It
plays music and data cds just fine. When I put in a DVD,
it won't read the disk. I have paid for and downloaded a
DVD Decoder trying to get it to work and it still doesn't
see it. I'm computer literate but new with the DVD thing.
What am I missing?

Did the dvd rom not come with any software? Usually you'd get a copy of
powerdvd or windv, which will play dvd's and also give you the neccessary to
play them via WMP.
Which decoder have you installed? Do you get any error messages?
