Hello

I installed a new liteone 16x dvd-rom drive. Model :
LITE-ON DVD SOHD-16P9SV. I use xpsp2 home.

I then updated the firmaware XFlsh v2.2.4.0 which it already had. Still I
went ahead as there was no way of knowing at the time of update which
version the dvd-rom drive came with.

This spelt disaster as now I could not boot into xp if there is a cd in this
dvd-rom drive. When I remove the cd the pc will
boot. But after booting the cd will not play audio music files. The F:\
( dvd-rom drive letter ) disappearS from My ComputeR. With the audio cd
inside the cd door tray refuses to open How can I fix all this ? Thank
you.

You can use system Information, in the run box type msinfo32, under System
Summary, open Components, click on CD-ROM, click on PNP Device ID to
highlight the line, scroll left button to see your firmware version
______(ver#)___\.
Also you can see it in Device Manager, open the drives properties and click
the details tab..
The Nero infotool works great even if you don't use Nero too..
