Hello world,
OS: Windows 2000
After buying the HP rm435i DVD-ROM drive, it only detects the CD media
only. When DVD media is inserted, it tries to detect the media but
ultimately fails at the end. I'm using a USB to IDE connector to
connect this new drive. The PC has a CD-ROM drive too. When looking up
for the device manager, it detects the drive as HP rm435i DVD-ROM
right, but it only uses 3 driver files; namely cdrom.sys, redbook.sys
and storprop.dll. It detects the drive as standard DVD/CD-ROM drive
and reports it to "work properly".
What am I missing here? Should it not use more driver files for DVD-
ROM drive or just these files only? To my understanding the IDE
interface should be able to handle that. Am I being forced to upgrade
to XP? The USB to IDE connector works with other CD-ROM dive too.
TIA
