Anyone here bulled up on recorders please?

A mate of mine, has asked me..

"I have a Daewoo with a 80gb drive. It is a Maxtor 6L080 with 2mb buffer.
I have laying about, a Maxtor 6L300, 300gb and a 20mb buffer.

The question.

Does anyone know about the formatting of these drives?
I was hoping I could swap the 90 hour for the bigger drive. "

So anyone...
1. know what he's on about;)

or
2. have a helpfull word or two.:thumb:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEerrrrrrrrmmmmm 50/50 ...not bad odds really ...and who wants to be judge :D

I'd guess he has a Daewoo DVD recorder hooked up to his TV and wants to know whether he can swap the hard drive over to the 300Gb drive from the 80Gb one.

Is he sure about that 20Mb buffer, btw? Highest I know of is 16Mb but I could be wrong.

As to whether or not he can use a different hard disc in his recorder, I don't know but I would guess that yes, he can.

To format the drive, hook it up to a computer with Windows on, right click and format, I guess.

Thanks flopps, just had an e-mail from him....

"Thanks for the reply Jay after much rummaging on geek sites it seems the largest drive I can use on this model is 160. it also appears that if I fit the drive and ‘delete all’ the onboard software formats it.

I wont bother now that cant use the one I have hanging about, it is not because I am short of room, just that it was here looking for a job."

I don't know why I bother!

Just when are you sorting my mobo and bits?

Or are you not going to bother?
