Got a DVD RW player the other day from Ebuyer however it didn't come with any software or instructions.

Can some tell me what other 'bits' I will need to get in order to get it working.

This is my first time at adding a new piece of kit so I do not want to muck it up.

Could someone be kind enough to put me on the right track.

Many thanks

Brian

just screw it in above/below your other drive (after setting the jumper on the back of it to SLAVE) and plug the spare connector on the cable going to the other one into it and find a spare power plug in your case and plug that into it, just like the other one.

It should then work fine when you turn your PC on.

In order to write to DVD's you will need a program such as Nero 6

Once you install it in the bay you have to set the jumper to MASTER if this is your only burner along with the CD Rom which should be set to slave.

As for software, Nero is the best but if you do not want to spend any dough on the software you can download a few free ones the link to one of the best FREEWARE CD/DVD software is is as follows:

CDBurnerXP Pro

The program can write CD-R, CD-RW DVD+R/RW DVD-R/RW discs.

Main features:
- Write CD-R, CD-RW DVD+R/RW DVD-R/RW discs (as Data, Video and Audio)
- Burn on the fly / Burn-proof
- Supports most IDE, USB, Firewire and SCSI drives
- Rip Audio-CDs to harddrive, obtain track-information (ID3-tags) from Internet
- Burn and create ISO-files
- Convert wav to mp3 and vice versa
- Audio Editor, bin/nrg->ISO converter, simple cover printing and much more!

Download CDBurnerXP Pro

Note: If you are new to burning software I would advise you to download the STABLE version rather than the latest offering which in normal cases is a BETA version possibly with minor bugs

i know its not free but if u can get hold of nero 6 its well worth the money!!!!!:)

Nero Burning ROM 6 is truly one of the best programmes for burning around in todays market!

My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe.

Keep both, many of us do ... reiterating what Quad said, connect the DVDRW as master on the secondary IDE and slave the CDRW off that.

I agree with Mucks, DVDRW as master and CDRW as slave. Since you just bought the DVD Writer I assume it would be faster and you will be using it more often.
