I have a Panasonic DMR-E85H DVD recorder that can record on DVD-RAM media.
On my computer I can play the DVD-RAM with PowerDVD. When I look at the disc
content I see a file called VR_MOVIE.VRO, and after changing the file
extension to MPG I can play the file in Media Player.

My problem is when I try to import this file in Movie Maker. I get this
error message: "T:\TV\VR_MOVIE.mpg could not be imported. An interface has
too many methods to fire events from".

Does anybody know if there is a way to import DVD-RAM content in Movie
Maker?

Thank you.

Gabriele

Hello,

If you had read some, almost all, of the messages posted here in the last
week you would have discovered that Movie Maker turns its toes up with any
file type that starts with an "M" So Mpeg files would have to be converted
first to DV-AVI.....OR you could grab the 30 day trial version of Nero 6
and use NeroVision Express 3 to both import your VR files and edit them
with no loss of quality in the resulting video...this assumes you save the
file without altering the compression of course

Hello,

Good stuff.

I will be intersted in hearing what you think about DVD-RAM...I have a DVD
recorder (dedicated) that records TV and Satelite for me using the VR
format.......I was wondering about what data rate you get in your captured
files

You probably can use MPEG to AVI tools. There are two freeware tools I have
used before that can be found linked out of the tools section of
videohelp.com. Try DVD2AVI and VirtualDub for starters. BTW, VirtualDub is
a great tool for working with DV-AVI formats. It can be used to fix
problems with some AVI files. I have also used it to extract the audio
track from AVIs so that I can import them into other tools (Sound Forge) to
fix audio issues (Noise reduction, hum removal, etc - Sound Forge is a pro
tool and is definitely NOT free @ $250 ;) ).
