DVD: +R,-R,+RW,-RW,RAM,...?

Sorry by bothering with this, but

What's the difference among them all?
How does it affect performance?
Can all they be read and recorded by all drives?
How can I know which to select?
My LG DVDRAM can drive all?

Too many questions, I know, but too many doubts.

Something else.
Can someone answer here? No internet access.
