DVD question

I have saved my movie as a dv-avi file. If I save that on a CD, can I watch it on a DVD player? If so, how do I do that?

One more question, once I saved my movie in the above format, I tried to use Sonic My DVD to save it as a DVD. I went throught the whole process several times, but each time it only saved as a little tiny box in the middle of the screen that you can barely see. What did I do wrong?

Ultimately, what is the best way to do this whole DVD thing--in very laymans terms please. ;)

Do you have a dvd writer?
If so, buy a dvd disc not cd and write to this.
The movie needs to be max 1 hour long.
Import the dv-avi file in to sonic mydvd and use it's presets to make a dvd
disc. It will convert it to the right format for you.

If you do not have a dvd writer, then to make a cd you cna use on your dvd
player you can use the likes of nero/roxio.
Again take in your dv-avi file and get this app to make a svcd or vcd disc,
using the wizard.
Svcd is better than vcd.
svcd about 1/2 hour video and vcd about an hour.

You cannot take the dv-avi file and put it on a cd and watch it in your dvd
player, besides you'd only get about two mins of video on it!!!

Have a look at www.dvdrhelp.com, plenty of useful info on there about this.

The little tiny box in the middle of the screen is the button to press to
play the movie..... With only one movie in the DVD project MyDVD will create
only one button.... add more and there will be more to choose from. Up to 6
per page.
