I'm a newcomer to the pc world and i need soem advice..please.! i have
windows vista home basic installed on an HP 530 notebook. i have had trouble
playing certain DVD's ...in particular collection of James Bond movies...no
kidding. anyway, i've downloaded a vlc media player as well as Realplayer in
order to view these movies because windows media player 11 wouldn't. it
seemed the laser just wouldn't read the disc...it battled to pick up
anything..made a kind of chugging sound repeatedly and the little timer wheel
just kept going round. so i got the other players loaded, but still nothing
worked. i was told that the actual DVD mechanism have have been faulty. then
a friend gave me a dvd of Cyberlink's PowerDVD XP version 4. bingo! it worked
but it is outdated and not vista compatible. since it's dated, there seem to
be no updates available for it. can i continue to use it even though it's not
compatible? what problems might i encounter? please advise
