Hello, all,
I need help, badly. 'Hope this is simple.
Running Win XP, home ed. My only player is WMP 11.
I have a 1 Lite-On DVDRW SHM-165H6S (only drive for my CD and DVD use.)
I tried to play a DVD recently and I got "WMP can't play this DVD because
there's a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive,
decoder and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."

I'm up, in years and not really sharp with these things, therefore I'd
REALLY appreciate being sent a simple, straightforward procedure to do this.
THANKS, Don H, MS.

You need to get a dvd decoder to view dvd movies,if movies are what
you're trying to play. You can go to WMP home page, click on audio/video from
L.sub menu, videos, locate the 3rd party software...If you run an ATI video
card,ATI cd or web site gets you one for free, otherwise powerdvd or similiar.
If dvd movies are not the issue, all liteonit hardware have a firmware
download,
go to liteonit.com,install the update..

If you need to update your video driver...
the following steps may help you:

Go to the support website of your video
adapter's mfg. and search for Windows
XP Compatible drivers.

If you don't know the make and model of
your video adapter...check the documentation
that came with the computer.

Also you could try these steps...
Go to...Start / Run...type...
msinfo32 ...press enter.

On the System Information screen...choose...
Components / Display...

You should find the make and model of your
display adapter as well as the driver version.

If the driver on the support website is more
current than the one you are running...
download it and install it. Also you should find
and follow the installation instructions at the
support site.

And...maybe the following free player would
be worth a try:

VLC media player
