DVD player just ignores me...

Just recently my DVD drive just stopped working and died. It didn't even die a noisy death, no errors were found and windows still thinks it's okay. The troubleshooter didn't help because it is not just movies I want to open, it's my PC Gamer DVD that I want to use. The drive doen't appear in My Computer and I have updated the drive. I t is a FUJITSU MPG3409AT E. Can I do anything about this?
