Dell I6000. 700-something RAM. 40-odd gigs open. (novice here)

I have no idea what to do or where to turn w/ this. At 1st, I was getting
very choppy playback. Now I'm getting nothing. When I try Media Center, I see
"Decoder Error. The video decoder has either malfunctioned or isn't
installed. Please restart..."

Nuttin'.

When I try WMP, I see: "WMP can't play dvd video. Adjust Win. display
settings screen resolution.."

Did it. Nuttin'.

Even GEEK SQUAD were stumped.

Wtf? Help!
thanx!

Reinstall WinDVD or PowerDVD or SonicEncoders, whichever the DVD decoding
software is that you are supposed to be using.

And Geek Squad.... I'll try and forget you ever mentioned them.

Read your PC manual. There is a list of software that was loaded on your
PC when you purchased it. If you've lost it, the same information can
usually be found at the website of your PC manufacturer. Remember those
CDs that came with the PC? There should also be information in the manual
or at the website on how to reinstall an individual application.
