DVD playback software?

Hi there,

We've upgraded 1 of our systems from win98 to win2000. The DVD has a
suitable driver according to the Device Manager, but unfortunately has lost
its win98 playback software that was pre-installed on the machine.

Is there any free playback software available that will allow us to view
DVDs on this drive, please? We really can't afford another $40 or so for
WinDVD or others.

I recommend VLC: http://www.videolan.org

But if you want to play DVD movies in Windows Media Player you can use a
free codec included in XP Codec Pack:
