Hi!

I am using a X1600 mobility on my notebook. When watching dvd with PowerDVD
and hardware acceleration turned on, I get some bad "shadow" artefacts.
Darker areas remain a shottime shadow where they were...
I have "googled" this problem some time ago and found a registry hack for
the drivers that reduced those effects a lot.
Does anyone know what I mean and know the registry hack?

Kind regards!

I get that with WinDVD which came with my notebook. These effects
do not occur if the DVD files are on the hard drive, but from the DVD drive.

With PowerDVD I get five choices of setting with hardware acceleration
switched on under 'hardware de-interlacing'. It is a pull down box and
three of them resemble registry keys, but I have
not found them by searching the registry. The others are 'bob' and 'weave'.
This effect varies with which 'number' I choose. One is the worst, one is
less, and one which
I picked does not do this at all. But I have noticed stuttering on some
occasions.
I've pondered this and wondered if anamorphic widescreen has something to do
with
it, but it is just an idea.

I wanted to make this choice for WinDVD but I can't if I cannot find these
entries elsewhere.
Also, before Toshiba released on their website a new ATI driver, I was
getting what appeared
as a horizontal line with video, when played only from the DVD drive, along
with some
slight lessening of picture quality.

I describe these effects as like 'burn in'. The MGM opening sequence leaves
an impression
when it is over and the screen turns to black. And for some motion on
screen there is a trail.
