Hi

Have no ideas at all of how to go about solving this problem.

Whatever DVD I try to play, whatever DVD play programme I use I cannot get a good picture from my computer.
The picture, no matter what I do, plays but the picture looks like psychodelic
colours.
Have had numerous attemts - all resulting in miserable failure

It it possible that someone knows of this problems + how to solve it.

Manythx

tell us abt ur computer specs

such as , cpu, ram, graphics card and include which dvd player u have their
and operating system?

As PSD said ... but my first guess would be to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

graphic card drivers as sir mucks suggested?

please explain in detail the actual problem

Your problem is ... onboard 64MB VGA ... can you tell us the make & model of your motherboard?

Download, install and run Everest Home Edition and let us know.

Hi again

Motherboard is
ASRock P4S61 800MHz FSB Motherboard with USB 2.0

with all dvd play backs the picture the colours look "phycodelic" - colours all look very intense and blurred

many thx

Ok, there are several problems with that MB ... I don’t mean to sound condescending, but, whoever built it (sorry again if it was you) did not stick to one fundamental aspect of building a PC ... the MB selection needs great care and thought. What you got was a heap of cheap junk. Again I am not personally getting at you.

Go http://www.asrock.com/support/Download/dl_p4S61.htmhttp://www.asrock.com/support/Download/dl_p4S61.htmHERE and download the VGA drivers ... hopefully they are newer than the ones you are using ... Try 'em and see.

Another alternative is to buy a new AGP Graphics Card, you have a limitation on that board and that is you will only be able to use a AGPx4 card, so be careful there.

The SIS "chipset" should be avoided if possible ... they really should be shot along with Arse-Rock.

:o

I just contacted the manufacturer.

He has offered to change parts for me :-

"I send a new board to you, this could be either a new P4S61 or an Upgraded board i.e. ABIT or Gigabyte"
"A new AGP or PCI Graphics Cards"

"Please accept my apologies and advice on wish route you wish to take."

Hmmm, unusual

Take 'em up on their offer ... but ask which Abit board and graphics card are they going to use. ;)

Many thanks "muckshifter" and everyone else.

Manufacturer has agreed to send me new motherboard and graphics card in exchange for the old ones.

Many thx again
