JOE F.

I JUST HAD TO REPLACE MY C: DRIVE. STARTED OVER WIN ME;
THEN UPGRADE TO XP. BEFORE CRASH, WIN MEDIA PLAYER 9
PLAYED DVD VERY NICELY. AFTER UPGRADE, DOWNLOADED GOBS
OF UPDATES FROM MS. FOR WIN XP. ALSO DOWNLOADED NEW
PLAYER 9. NOW CAN'T GET DVD TO PLAY. SEEMS TO START,
GETS A FEW NOTES OF THE MUSIC; SCREEN REMAINS BLANK;
TRACK TITLES AND DVD ID INFO ETC PRINT ON SIDE AND
BOTTOM. CLICKING ON A FEW ITEMS THEN CAUSES THE PROGRAM
TO STOP RESPONDING.
THANKS

MORE TO ADD:
YES, I WAS RUNNING XP BEFORE THE CRASH. AFTER I POSTED
THE FIRST NOTE, I USED SYSTEM RESTORE TO GO BACK TO
BEFORE I DOWNLOADED ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PLAYER 9.
THEN I DOWNLOADED PLAYER 9 AGAIN AND ALL OTHER ITEMS
PERTAINING TO PLAYER 9. STILL GET THE SAME RESULT. THE
DVD PLAYS FINE IN MY WINDVD PLAYER, SO ITS NOT THE
HARDWARE.
ANYONE GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS. MICROSOFT; CAN YOU DO
ANYTHING?
THANKS

Nothing like posting my own answer to the problem.
Actually Chris Lanier [MVP] gave an answer to "D" for no
video that gave me the idea. Even though a different
application, I went to the WMP 9 options and moved the
hardware acceleration control to half way. ( it had been
full to the top.) This solved my problem. Now I can play
my DVD's.
Thanks to Chris Lanier [MVP]
