I've tried making a DVD using any of a half dozen different .AVI files
and after adding in the file and proceeding to the next step, I always
get:
"Windows DVD Maker has stopped working".

Checking online for a "solution" results in a notification that Data
Execution Prevention has stopped Windows DVD Maker from running.
Attempting to turn off DEP for Windows DVD Maker results in the
message "This program must run with data execution protection (DEP)
enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."

Nice. Note that Microsoft can't be certain if the "P" in DEP stands
for Prevention or Protection...

: I have a similar problem. It will work with .wmf files
from the examples but not .mpeg files of mine, same error msg Photos are ok
