Does anyone know what the following problem may be? when I try to load media
files to DVD maker, it posts a message that says windows DVD maker has
stopped working and will contact provider. It works with pictures but not
with video. Has anyoine had this same problem????????? Thanks so much

Pleae use the Vista group for vista problems.
windows.vista.music_pictures_video

i have the same problem, it doesnt even allow me to load up the dvd samples
that come with vista i have also noticed that the same thing happens when
trying to open videos to windows movie maker it just stops working and the
tells me i need to close the program

I go to make a DVD and when I try to edit menus or burn the disk it will tell
me that it has encountered an error and needs to close, then a balloon pops
up from the task bar and says that Data Execution Prevention (which is a
windows security feature) has closed the program to "Protect" my system.

JMUNFY im haveing the same problem now , i can put in a file, click nxt then
the DVD Maker has stopped wrking message pops up, did you mannage to resolve
the problem and how ?? any help would be apreciated. Thanx.

I just had to fix this problem myself, turns out it was a 3rd party program I
installed. NERO. There is a known compatability issue. I uninstalled NERO and
now it works fine. The board I was on said there is also compatability with
several other players including quicktime.

Yes there is a problem with Nero and Windows Vista.
As far as QuickTime goes though there is a new version 7.1 available that is
compatible with Vista.

btw, how insane is it that they managed to get vista out the door when there
was a problem with one of the most commonly loaded peices of software in the
world... and its not just nero, fyi, some how i always seem to get the
problimatic codec on my pc, even on installs that i have not even attempted
to load nero onto. watch movies or make them you cant do both it would seem..

Because it is impossible to expect that every computer is going to run
correctly every time.
I am here on pretty much a daily basis trying to help people when Movie
Maker, DVD Maker, their DVD Authoring program, or some other piece of
software crashed but with all the video editing I do Movie Maker has not
once ever crashed on any of my computers unless I was purposely trying to
duplicate a problem.
Software will always "get out the door" and people will have problems with
it. This is why newsgroups like this are here.

if you try to install an avi file that is corrupt the Data Execution
Prevention will pop up. Delete that avi file and it should work.
