Unlock in what way? Physically unlock it? There should be a very small pin
hole visible. If you'll take a paper clip and gently insert one straightened
end into this pin hole it should open.

<g> No, that actually works. As a matter of fact that's what that tiny hole
in your CD "flap" is for. I'd never noticed it until my CD-ROM stalled on me
one day and I went looking for a way to open it without rebooting. Found
that helpful little tidbit in a newsgroup. "Course, if he meant some way to
simply get it to work, I apologise.

Nope -- all the apps that do it know how badly you want it, and are
capitalizing on it. :( Best I've used is this (not freeware):

Definitely worth the money if your player is locked (like mine).
Hopefully (for your sake, I paid already) some kind programmer
will release a free app that does it.
