DVD Format

Just wondering if there is any way I can play other zone formatted DVD's on
my PC? My CD / DVD player is set to zone 4 (Aust + NZ)

Sorry forgot to Add it is a Samsung SD 612 - I believe you can change the
format 5 times before it won't let you anymore and you have to return it to
a Samsung service place for it to be reset.

Open up device manager and right click on the drive you
wish to change,select properties,next DVD region highlite
the region you wish to change it to and click on OK.
I don't know about having it reset after the 5 changes
it's a new one on me.Be careful.
 
I can change that no problem - just worried that I only have 3 more times
before it becomes set to Zone X - wasn't sure if there is any way to change
this. In the properties box it says that once you have done this 5 times the
unit must be returned to the manufacturer for resetting and even by
uninstalling windows wont fix it -that's what I am worried about....

That's right, once it's been changed X amount of times it will lock, I've
personally never heard of manufactures "resetting" a drive.

The unit itself writes the region code into it's ROM. You can sometimes get
firmware to flash over the ROM to crack the region or even make it region
free. But it depends from drive to drive and I'm not sure of any places on
the internet to download cracked firmware from.
