DVD Format

My D: & E: drives plays CDs, movies, and other DVDs. But a few DVDs are not
recognized on my computer. I think its the formatting. Anybody knows how to
make these DVDs work on my computer?

Could be a reflectivity issue with the DVD player and the media on those
that aren't recognized.

Two questions come to mind:

Do those DVDs play on any other player/computer?

Do you have zone incompatibility issues?
 
Where is that DVD initially burned? Factory or at home
Is this dual layer.
What brand name.
Is that brand name supported by your player?

Often, a firmware update enables better disc-compatibility. HTH, s
 
Are the disks the correct "Region" for the drive? eg unless you have a
mult-region drive (or the disk is multi-region) you can 't play a Region 2
disk in a player set to play Region 4 disks.

With most DVD drives these days you can set the region several times, but it
will be locked after about the 5th change.
