I created a 20 minute video on Movie Maker that is over
4.8 gig but DvD-R's only hold 4.7 gig. Will it fit?
What format should I burn in to get it on a DvD that I
can play on my component player? I ordered a DvD burner
that uses Sonic MyDvD software that I haven't received
yet. Will the software compress it correctly? What
format are DvD rentals in that they can fit 2+ hours on
one DvD?

Thanks

The movie you made on MM is presumably saved in DV-AVI format.... File size
is approximately 12gb per hour.

When you use your third party software, it will re-encode the AVI file to an
MPEG format and yes, it will fit just fine on your DVD. I think the maximum
I've managed to fit is about 22gb... just under two hours.

Rental DVDs are what is called dual layer, so you can fit almost 4 hours on
one single DVD.
