I have two dvd drives installed in windows home premium, on a asus p5n-e sli
motherbaord. They utilize IDE. Neither one will read any type of cds, and
only my sony dru-710 will read movie dvds, nothing else. Every time i put in
a dvd or cd, the drive spins, and detects nothing. Clicking on the drive
folder in my computer does nothing, except prompt me to put in a disk. When I
dual boot to Windows XP Professional , both drives work perfectly and will
read any type of compatible media. The sony will burn dvds and cds in xp,
however it will not burn anything in Vista. I have tried to uninstall and
reinstall drivers, i have updated to the newest firm ware for the sony drive,
and nothing seems to work. I have even tried to use a ide to sata card with
the sony, and still nothing. I believe both drives are suossedly compatible
with vista. Please Help!@!

Thanks,

Will

Same thing here with Ultimate and a Nec 4550... any idea??

I took a look to other similar problems related with filters, and aspi
drivers. Not luck.

The system is brand new installed without any software in it (mostly
because it does not read dvds....)

Thanks for the help
