Is it me or are all dvd drive on pc crap?

I was watching a movie today on my pc and the movie just stop and crash.

Check the disc and there was only little abit of dirt on it.

Play it on a normal dvd player for the tv and it was fine.

So the question is can a normal dvd drive perform better than a pc?

Before you say my dvd drive is fine.

So don,t watch dvd on a pc.

Does any one in your household smoke near PC?

Do you live on or near a main road?

Is your drive old?

Does the inside or your system get hot

Answer these questions if you say to even one of them it can make a difference

some of the old dvd drives are crap. The reading speeds are very slow.
Which can cause your discomfort!

Optical drives, in my experience, are the most unreliable items of equipment in a PC setup.

I've had more of those fail than any other item, including most major makes. Except Plextor but I've only had that drive a few months.

Generally speaking, yes, stand alone DVD players are better quality than their PC counterpart.

Like all mass produced items, they're built to a price.

Mind you, they're so cheap, you may as well bung a new one in there and have done with it.
