DVD Drive

I have a WindowsXP Media Center PC and it supposedly has a CD/DVD drive. CD
is Drive D but DVD drive doesn't exist. Have tried XP_CD-DVD-Fix with no
luck. If I install Sonic DVD Decoder will the DVD drive magically appear,
along with CD drive?
Maybe I'm dreaming that it should be there, but then why would Cine Player
be preinstalled?
 
So in other words you have no idea what you bought and paid for and want us
to figure it out for you????????/
Have you tried playing a DVD??
what is the name and model number of this "D" drive??

Get the Bel Arc Advisor www.belarc.com and take an inventory
of your system.

Gary,
Check the documentation for your new system or look the model up online.
That should be very clear about what you have installed. If still in doubt,
call the company's tech support.

Aside: What you may have is a drive that can read DVDs or CDs but only
burns CDs. I have one of those on my system. XP shows it as a CD-RW drive.
Another optical drive installed on the same system burns CDs and DVDs and
can read either. That one is listed differently and as a DVD/CD-RW drive.
