DVD drive uses morse code

I bought a new DVD drive: AOpen 1648/AAP Pro
Immediately after turning on my pc, the drive begins to repeatedly
blink the following "morse code":
---...... (3 times long, 6 times short)
Pressing the eject-button hasn't any effect.

I've just tried the drive in another (newer) computer. it shows the
same behaviour. it does that blinking also when it's not connected
with a data cable. I guess that means the drive is broken. --Konrad
 
try it without the psu conected to the dvd drive
