DVD drive regions?

Currently have a DVD writer set to region 2 (i think, uk one). Is there a way to make it multiregion or can I just get another DVD drive to set for another region? Going to Auz soon and want to be able to play existing UK collection as well as new ones from Auz.
 
Thanks for the link, that focuses on standalone players not PC internal drives. I should have been more specific, am talking about internal DVD in my PC, when I placed a region 1 dvd in it a dialogue box came up asking me if I wanted to change regions and that I could only do so 3 times before it becomes permanent. Is there some software that will enable me to keep it multiregion?
 
I realised that you are concerned about a DVD writer installed in a pc. I passed on the url in good faith not appreciating that your DVD writer is regionalised. Without research I am unable to contribute further.

I would have thought that regional issues would be similar whether the device was a player or a writer. Certainly my DVD writer has not given any indication that it is regionalised. Perhaps there is much to learn on this topic.
