Hello:
I have a sony FX-340 with w2k that has a matchita udja710 dvd rom-cdrw combo
drive.
A couple of months ago, the drive stopped recognizing DVDs and would only
read and write CDRs.
I'm not sure how I fixed it, but now I have the problem again, and I'm not
able to fix it. I've uninstalled the driver and installed it again with no
luck. I dont know where to find other driver (the driver that it is being
used is the standard CDROM driver from w2000).
anybody got any ideas?

thanks

guillermo

but there must be something that can corrupt the drivers in some way.
My computer is a laptop. I havent reinstalled the operating system or
anything.
Other computer with the same drive use exactly the same drivers.
I don't really have a clue of what can cause that behavior

I can download new cdrom.sys and redbook.sys files from there, but how can I
install them? I need a .inf file....

Chances are that your drive is dead.
Combo drives use a different laser for CD and DVD.
It happens fairly often that one or the other will fail.
I'd suggest that your DVD laser assembly has failed.

I wonder how it got fixed last time?
It probably just fixed itself for a little bit?
Oh well, hopefully it'll fix itself again......

:(
