I just got a new laptop and everything seems normal. However, when I open
the C: drive nothing appears for the CD/DVD drive that should be there. How
can I get Windows XP Pro SP-3 to recognize the CD?DVD drive? Thanks.

Since this is a brand-new laptop it should work out of the box, including
seeing the optical drive. Unless you're leaving something out, like the
optical drive is a removal one or in a dock or the like, I'd contact the
laptop mftr.'s tech support immediately. Or take it back and get another
one. It's under warranty.

Since today is Memorial Day everyone is closed. I did look under Device
Manager and no CD/DVD drive shows. Under the C drive there are 10 folders
including PCCAM & PCMCIA. Am I missing a driver that should have been
installed?

I have found under Windows help & Suppport that the CD-Rom Drive is "Not
Installed". Can I install the CD-Rom drive which is physically installed?
