dvd drive inaccessible.

I recently bought a BTC DVD writer, and it plays games, cd's and stuff fine.
The only trouble is burning data to a dvd, i cannot actually open the E
drive; a message pops up saying it is inaccessible. I have tried multiple
brands of different DVDs and none work. Other people have told me I need to
buy a new writer, but i am not willing to pay another $80. any help is
appreciated, thanks.

You paid $80 for a DVD burner? WOW. Last one I purchased was $29.99 from
NewEgg... it was a special offer, but the normal price is only $1 more:

What third party DVD burning software are you using? XP does not write to
DVDs without third party software.

yea, new zealand overprices stuff... i usually use nero, but before i could
just drag and drop, then click Write. now i cant access the folder from my
computer

Uninstall and reinstall Nero and see if it helps... check for updates at
Nero's website as well.

did that, but i dont want nero data progams, i just want to be able to open E
Drive drag some files in there, click write and done. how do i do that
because each time I insert a blank dvd, it My Computer displays it as a cd
drive, and wont allow access.

Win XP can handle CD R's but not record DVD's without additional software.
