I am having problems playing DVD's on my COMPAQ DVD-ROM DVD-115 unit. I am
running Windows XP Home Edition. Plain and simple the problem is this, when
i insert a DVD disc, the drive spins and nothing happens. Windows does not
recognize a disk in the drive, this happens with ANY DVD. The software will
respond with {no valid disc/drive found}. These are the things i have
already tried, uninstalling DVD-Rom driver and rebooting.. Removing then
re-enstalling the DVD software. My Windows XP is up to date, and it would
appear there is no updates for the DVD Rom as it is now over 5 years old. I
have contacted the COMPAQ support team and came up empty handed. (btw, the
drive has worked fine up untill now, no new hardware has been introduced
since the problem occured.) I have also all but exhausted all resources from
the Microsoft Knowledge Base with no real help.
Short of the dreaded RE-install of Windows XP, im open to any and all
suggestions..
