HELLO ALL I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE I HAD INSTALLING AND SOLVING THE
USUAL PROBLEMS I HAD WITH THIS NEW VISTA.OK HERE WE GO THE FIRST AND MAJOR
PROBLEM WAS......THE DAM DVD DRIVE...I INSTALLED THE VISTA RC1 DIRECTLY FROM
WIN XP EVERITHING WENT OK TILL THE END....BUT....WEN I TRIED TO PUT A CD IN
MY DVD PLAYER ....NOTHING ,THERE WAS NO DVD PLAYER LISTED IN MY COMP FOLDER
AND EVEN IN THE DEVICE MANAGER.....STRANGLY I ASKED.....BUT... IF THE O.S.
WAS INSTALLED COMPLETLY FROM IT,WHAT HAPPENED...?????THEN I WAS SEARCHING FOR
DVD DRIVE MODEL TO SEARCH FOR DRIVERS AND READED POSTS AND FINALY DECIDED TO
TAKE A LOOK IN MY MOTHERBOARD BOOK AND REALISED THE DRIVE WAS IN THE IDE SLOT
2.....BUT IT WAS WORKING PERFECT WITH XP....EVEN THAT WAY I DECIDED TO PUT
THE PLUGGER IN THE SLOT 1 REBBOOTED THE COMP AND THE MIRACLE HAPPENED.ITS
WORKING FINE WITH NO ASK FOR ANY DRIVERS FROM VISTA.....SO BIG FELLAS SHARING
THIS CRAPPY UNSTABLE O.S. IT WORTH THE TRY...HONESTLY...I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS
THE FACT OF CHANGING FROM IDE SLOT 2 TO 1 THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM BUT WELL
FELLAS GIVE IT A SHOT...

SORRY ALL HERE GOES MY PC CONFIG... P4 3.0 GHZ SOCKET
775......MOTHERBOARD GIGABYTE 81915PL........1GB RAM KINGSTON.......WESTERN
DIGITAL HD 200GB SATA2..........ATI 1600 PRO 256MB.......SOUND CARD ONBOARD
8 CHANELS REALTEK AC 97...........................................ANYONE
HAVING SOME SIMILAR EXPERIENCE PLZ POST ILL HELP IF I
CAN.............EVERYTHING SEEMS WORKING FINE HERE WITH THIS CONFIG.....

I had the same problem with my configuration with vista as well. I had 2
harddrives on IDE1 and 1 CDRW and 1 DVDRW on IDE2. Under XP this
configuration worked well but under Vista.... no way... After changing things
around H/D and CDRW on IDE1 and H/D and DVDRW on IDE2 things worked OK. Its
just one of those things with Vista we might just have to live with....
