DVD decoder

Stuck an old dvd player in my box, but it seems I need a software
decoder to make it play dvd's (it reads data disks fine). Google showed
some old hits on this subject, but nothing recent.

Any suggestions appreciated.

You could check this out i haven't yet. One person said it was
slow, but needed to do further evaluation, and haven't posted
back yet as far as I know.
