For some reason my DVD & CDrom quit reading my disk. Device manager shows
that everything is OK. DVD writer ia an HP USB external CDRW is a Lite-ON
internal

Thanks

I am very sure your have already taken these messsures. But I thought I
would offer what has worked for me.
If you go to the Device Manager then look into the Device Properties go to
Driver - then click on Driver Details - there you will find all the
applications that are being used by the CD or DVD to read and write to the
Disks. Two cases I have found to cause a problem one is where I have deleted
Sonic or Roxio to use just Nero. I don't have any idea which software you
are using so I am just attaching some sites I found helpful.

The other issue I found was when my husband removed his usb without using
the safely remove hardware function. This caused the system to continue to
try and use a device which was now there any longer. One way to find this is
to go to C: drive or your main harddrive and see if you have any drives with
a red check mark by it then you can disconnect it from here and restart your
system..
I probubly didn't connect to your issue but I thought I would get it try.
Good luck
