I have installed Vista beta 2, and I do not have Dvd or cdrom at all, totally
not reconised.
I have on board sound AC97 cannot find updated drivers.
Any help needed

I can confirm your problem of no sound using AC97 onboard while playing DVDs.

Myself, using either Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center on RC1, I
only get clicking from the speakers.

I attempted to install PowerDVD XP 4.0 (the only version i own) and it
reported immediatly the Installshield crashed so im unable to test if other
software will correct this issue.

I get no sound at all, with the AC 97

The DVD it was not even showing up in anyway shape or form. I did find a
solution 10 minutes ago, now I have dvd and cdrom. it is working.

Now I have got to work on the sound then the printer.

Thanks for the reply.

I have the same problem going on with my CD rom drive and My DVD Burner
Drive. Can you tell me how you fixed yours feral1?

I was unable to make either Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, or my
old PowerDVD XP 4 to work with sound.

I did however do the following to restore DVD watching ability...

Downloaded Video Lan Player:
http://www.videolan.org/

Downloaded new Realtek AC97 Vista Drivers:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True

After installing both, I am able to watch DVDs only in the VLC player with
sound. Microsoft players can not play sound as of yet even after the new
driver...

What was your solution for the DVDROM fix? I lost my drive and it Device
Manager keeps saying "Corrupt or missing driver". I've installed RC1 on a
MacBook Pro and it worked fine, till I booted today. I can see that it uses
'cdrom.sys' for loading the Matsushita DVD.

Any solutions would be appreciated?
